She attended the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto in 1987
In 1989 she joined Annex Art Studio in Toronto Canada and undertook printing with Laurence Crooks who established the studio to publish fine art, mentoring young upcoming Canadian printmakers.
In 1995 she took a four year sabbatical and sailed out to Australia and has been a resident of the North Coast since 1999.
Tanja has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout Australia and her paintings and original serigraphs are held in private collections in Canada, United States, Vietnam and Germany. Recently she participated and became a finalist with her painting “Laurie” in the AGNSW Archibald prize.
In both her paintings and print work the reality of representation does not always matter rather, her gestural and colourful compositions are about creating an emotive response.
“Narratives about people and place and what lies beneath them resonate with me. ‘’
Tanja is currently working in collaboration with printmaker Laurence Crooks on a series of original serigraph prints .
